ZMud initialisation issue |
Greetings.
I have been a fond user of ZMud for... probably nearly ten years now.
It's ace. It's been the cornerstone of all my PC's, one of the first pieces of software installed, and the thing I return to that never disappoints.
So you can imagine my distress when I have found a problem.
A problem I cannot fix! *gasp*
Also a problem I've tried searching for a solution and dismally failed :(
Hopefully you can help!
Long story short: ZMud no longer starts for me. This started after it refused to close last night. Rather odd, had to force close it, OK. This morning before work, boot it up - "SQL error: table mudlist already exists.". Odd.
Removed the Mudlist.txt file in the ZMud folder, gave me another message. unable to access Char.db, or Chars: Cannot perform this action on a closed dataset. If I remove THIS file, I get cannot create file D:\ZMud\ZMud.ini. This file is now a blank .txt file
Ok, I know what you're thinking. Reinstall the thing, ye idiot!
Done that. Didn't help :( (Only difference, is Avast wants to open the program in Sandbox mode, but I open it normally ofc.)
So numerous restarts, reinstalled it a few times now...
I'm fairly certain I'm probably missing something REALLY obvious. Please tell me this is easily fixed.
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Tiralak.
edit to add - Still on Windows XP. It's been working just dandy on this PC prior to this event. |

Did you say your zmud.ini file is blank?

It was before - it's populated now...
It was 0Kb before. Maybe my tinkering has fixed it or something, but at the moment it's a collection of stuff in it.
It still gets the "SQL error: table mudlist already exists." error though. |

Just for reference - this problem has now been solved thanks to Materia Magica.
If anyone has a similar issue in future, a fresh download of the ZMud installer from the site appears to have been the miracle cure required... (and a complete de-installation, directory deletion etc etc of course.) |
