CMUD mapper

Hi all,

I just downloaded the trial version of CMUD, and I've been trying it out on the MUD I play. It was going pretty well until I found a non-standard door. The door name is Steel, and it runs North South between rooms 6 and 8. From the looks of it, I should just have to go into edit mode, add a door between these two rooms through a link, and labeled the Door as Steel. However whenever I do that, it doesn't seem to work, so when I try to use the mapper to run from Room 6 to Room 8, it tries to Open Door, instead of Open Steel. Am I doing something wrong, are custom doors only part of the retail version of CMUD?

Thanks,

instead of adding a door, (which cmud things requires opening)
just edit the name property (which is used for special exits)
the label aspect is mostly for when a room leads to another zone and you want it to show as other then the new zone's name

Hey Shalimar,

Thanks for the quick response! I removed the label on door, and added 'Steel' to the Name Property. Now when I try use the mapper to navigate, to go from Room 6 to 8, from North to South, with a Steel in between, the mapper adds the commands 'Open S', and 'Steel'.

1) To get rid of the Open S, should I remove the door?
2) And should I add the 'open steel' instead of Steel to the name property?

Edit: Also, it doesn't go South in the directions, it just attempts to open the door but doesn't attempt to move in the correct direction.

Thanks,

The name field has nothing to do with doors, it's for non-standard exits, like 'enter portal'. You could remove the door and set the name field to open steel;south, it should work, but the door field should do what you want. You might need to change a couple fields in the mapper config though, on the strings and doors tab. The first field is what is sent to open doors. I believe the default is open %1, which would send open south, not open steel. If you want it to use the door name, you would need to change it to open %2.

Hi Daern-

Thanks for answering! Could you help elaborate a bit with the string? I need to edit the configure to point to %2, not %1? It's a little unclear. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
