Session Docking

Hello,

I've had trouble with various characters not appearing when I've opened them before and have expressed these concerns on the forum before. It was suggested that something may be corrupted session wise.

Now I have characters that only open undocked and clicking the caption bar isn't redocking these windows. I should mention these sessions open normally when I open them first but they don't allow the opening of other sessions. Sometimes these sessions appear under the windows menu on the main menu bar but they won't open when I click on them.

If something is corrupted how might I fix it? Should I uninstall CMUD and reinstall or are my character package files corrupt and if so can I create a new session, import the package and have the problem fixed.

Also I'd like to make a suggestion. Can the forum search feature be modified to make it easier to find CMUD issues? A search for CMUD docking resulted in quite a few ZMUD results and a 'mission' statement from ZUGG that dated to the 2000. If I'm searching incorrectly can someone bring me up to speed on this. or better yet can a new forum be created for 'beginner' questions like my one. I suspect my issue has been answered before but is lost amongst the questions I consider rather advanced.

Thanks for any help offered with my issue.

It sounds like you haven't saved a layout for multiple sessions, or that if you have it got corrupted.

Press and hold shift as you open your sessions to fix a corrupted layout.
If the package is corrupted, export to xml, and recreate the package.

As for searching the forum, the obvious search bar is more google.... Use the search tool under the site menu on the page header.

If double-clicking the caption bar doesn't dock the windows, then just drag the window over the window you want to dock it to and you should see the normal window docking UI. Also remember to make sure that you don't have your layout Locked in the Layout menu.

For searching, go to the Site menu at the top of the page and select "Search Forums". Then you will be able to specify exactly which forums you want to search.
