Zmud sign on

I recently tried to copy an auto roller to my zmud. After I got it copied and in I had to shut it down, ever since I have not been able to get in my Zmud. The split black and white screens come up it beeps then nothing. I don't get any words so I cant work offline and since Zmud is not supported through e-mail by ZUGG the best they could offer was for me to post my problem here. Any ideas? would appreciate any help I can get. I'm using windows, its a desktop computer everything else is working just fine. I've paid for two copies of the software one for my desktop and one for my laptop, I really can't afford to buy it again.
And I'm not using windows 7 OR VISTA.

Please try to help us out with more information. You are not able to get into your Zmud.

When you launch (click on zmud) does it load up?
Can you open up a character session?

You said you don't get any words so you can't work offline - the split black and white screen comes up it beeps then nothing.

I'm wondering if resetting the file zmud.ini is what needs to be done. Don't want to do anything that isn't necessary.

I don't know what else to tell you. there is not a file, edit anything in the command line. I get the initial inch by three inch blurb that makes it look like its loading then the full size screen comes up the quarter on the left is black the three quarters on the right is white there is space at the top where the command lines etc SHOULD be. It beeps and totally shuts down. I had tried to load an auto roller from the toril site that was not as current as my zmud. That's it. I wish I could tell you more. I did get this reply from Zug:
zMUD is an old product. We still sell it because some people still want it, even though it is not officially supported.

You got a free CMUD3 license key when you purchased zMUD, so I recommend that you install CMUD v3.33 (download it from the www.zuggsoft.com site) and try to use that instead. Then you can get support, new features, etc. You'll eventually have a computer that doesn't run WinXP, so it's not really good to invest a lot of your time into something you might eventually need to replace anyway.

Which is totally not helpful because if I found Cmud as easy to use I would. I find it difficult and confusing, I am not a computer programmer and do not play one on TV. I just love to play on Toril and would like my access back.

HP said it is a problem with the software the computer is fine...I like Windows XP and do not have any plans or money to upgrade. I just need help.

Ok... let's try and run through some things because I'm not entirely clear where you are having the problem. The first thing I want you to do is back up you zMUD folder, in case anything goes terribly awry.

To get a better idea of where the problem is occurring tell us a few things. When you start zMUD do you get a splash screen? Do you get the icon list, ie sessions window? If you get to the sessions window can you start a new session? From the session window if you hit Esc can you get to the untitled session?

Can you post an image of what screen you're on when you get stuck? Do you have the code for the AutoRoller? Why did you have to shut it down? Did the problem occur on both the desktop and laptop? Have you tried reinstalling zMUD? Any information that will help us better understand where you are and what caused the problem will be very useful.

As an aside, I do strongly recommend you upgrade to CMUD even if you don't plan to upgrade from Win XP. The new features and the continued support alone, would make the investment in learning the changes worthwhile.
