Viewing and Importing scripts -- zMUD vs. cMUD

Yes, I typed these keywords into the search system and was absolutely SPAMMED with browser popups,"**NOT** secure connection your computer is **AT RISK** and every living being in the entire universe will be subject to untold suffering of INCONCEIVABLE proportions unless you cancel this redirection **IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**

(Don't look at me that way, maybe the forewarned consequences are exaggerated but the spammed popups were quite real... Firefox 3.6.8)

Anyway, when I used zMUD 7.2.1 I was able to write scripts in notepad, view them in notepad at any time, and there was a command to import them on any new connection desired.

It seems that with cMUD 2.3.7 I can no longer type nor view scripts in notepad, and there is no command to import scripts? Just zMUD settings which might not be entirely compatible?

I checked for version updates but the update offered, 3.22a, was clearly marked as a beta, and I was reluctant to immediately upgrade to a beta version.

It's also true that I have upgraded my OS. In fact pretty much my entire computer is different except for two of the hard drives. I've gone from Windows XP 32-bit to both Windows XP 64-bit on one hard drive, to Windows 7 64 bit on another. Is this the culprit? Both programs seem to run just fine, I just can't view or type scripts in Notepad anymore, and cMUD not having zMUD's command to import individual scripts certainly isn't an OS issue.

I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered multiple times-- like I said, my browser absolutely spammed security risk warnings when I used this forum's search feature. I am NOT joking about this, please take it up with Mozilla if you're a ZuggSoft admin reading this message and are upset by it.

Thanks

You used the wrong search feature. The one you want to use is found in the Site menu. It's not broken, it's just been rendered useless by spam and by the fact that zuggsoft.com is a really popular site.

All of that is still there. .XML files are plain-text and thus can be opened and worked with in notepad. CMud exports and imports scripts via XML, so if you want something to work on while you're not in front of CMud you can use those options.

It's just not as convenient to do so anymore unless you are really into XML.

I just typed "viewing and importing scripts" into the search box at the top of this site and I didn't get any popups or spam. There is a radio button for selecting between "Site" and "Web". Did you have "Site" selected, and if so, exactly what keywords did you use? The "Site" option only searches pages on zuggsoft.com and none of them will have any popups. However, the "Web" option will do a normal Google web search which might bring up all sorts of bad warez and spam sites.

Sounds more like your browser might have some malware/spyware installed or other problems. I just tried it with Firefox, and also Chrome and IE 8 and didn't see any problems at all. Might be time to run a anti-spyware and anti-virus on your computer.
