Can't Connect To Mud |
First off, I apologize if this is answered elsewhere. I poked around a bit and didn't see anything that addresses it.
I was using cMud tonight with no problems, but then I must have hit a bad button or something because my window went black and I couldn't see text. Now, everytime I restart cMud, I start the program with no problem, select the connection to the mud I wish to enter, but then the screen goes white and it doesn't actually connect.
Any suggestions on what I might be looking for, in terms of what the problem I caused might be, and a solution?
If any more information is needed, please let me know.
Thank you for your time. |

Once you've got the session opened and you're at the "white screen" stage, open up your settings editor edit the Window setting, and look at the Advanced tab - make sure "Window is Visible" is checked.
I've had this happen before I think, and usually that checkbox has gotten unchecked somehow. |

Also, in the Preferences, go to the "User Interface" page, then the "Window options" tab and make sure the "Show session output" option is checked.

Thank you for both suggestions, though neither one worked. Both "windows is visible" and "show session output" are checked.
I did do something that somewhat fixed the problem, but I have no idea what. It does seem to be a clearcut case of user error, I am thinking. I deleted all muds saved and started from scratch and at least for the time being, it worked. I'm sure I'll break it again.
One thing I did notice when I was poking around trying to see what I did was that I don't think it was a window problem, but a connection problem. I noticed in the file dropdown menu that "reconnect" was available, but never "disconnect".
anyway, not sure exactly how or why it worked, but I did find a solution that is not too elegant.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. I was glad to see such prompt replies. |

It might have been a corrupted layout file. If this happens in the future, try the "Shift Trick" of holding down the SHIFT Key and then clicking the Open Offline action. This will reset your layout to the default and fix a corrupted layout.
