[3.16b] mapper not following

mapper on "Follow" mode (follow clicked) = only updating now and then

#find = works.

I can confirm that the mud output is the same when walking around and when using #find command.

One thing that I can think of that might affect the mapper follow mode is that I do have laaaggg (but could not find any "lag" settings for the mapper to compensate). But weird if lag only affect follow mode and not #find.

Probably is not finding your prompt. If it can't find the prompt, it won't know if you moved.

I agree if it wasn't working at all, but the it's working now and (even with same rooms - going back and forth).
sometimes the mapper moves, and sometimes it doesn't. (prompt is same in all cases).

where can I double check that it gets the prompt correcly?

1)click on the Configuration menu, select the Configuration Settings option

2)the Map Preferences window should appear, with the Configuration section automatically chosen. There should be four tabs along the top--Name, Description, Exits, and Prompt.

3)click on the Prompt tab. In this section, you should see a text box with a trigger pattern in it labeled Prompt Trigger Pattern. It's going to be in regex form, but hopefully you can recognize enough of it to determine what it's matching.

Also check the speedwalk settings for what it is trying to match (Room Name, Description, etc). If, for example, you have it set to match Room Name At Beginning Of Line, and your mapper has stored a room name that doesn't match EXACTLY, it won't register a valid move.

I changed back and forth some of the prompt settings, and now (maybe before too) it's following on e (east) and w (west), but not n (north) or s (south).

Any ideas where I can check settings for that?

in "view->directions":
n|north
s|south

is not listed. probably why not mapper is not working on north or south.

Anyway, if I click New and puts in information about: "n|north" and then apply (or ok), it is added to the list view properly.
but, if I then close it and go back in to this menu it's now gone and replaced by an blank line in the listview. the blank line has "reverse" correct and "Dir" correct, but "Name" and "Value" is blank.

SO something is wrong. Help :)

Were you using the English Directions package? If so, you could just reinstall to get the package reloaded, or grab another copy of the package from the Package Library.

that solved it.

re-downloading the english-directions and installing it solved my problem.

must have been corrupt or something, as I could see I was using it before I downloaded it again too.
