[3.14a] Auto Upgrade didn't work |
Hey All,
Is the auto upgrade not working for anyone else on Windows 7 from 3.12? I had to d/l and install it that way?
Also is there no indication that your key is over 2 years old, so can't be applied? I think there should be some type of indication that is why the key is failing.
Thanks! |

This is a known problem on Vista and Windows 7. CMUD doesn't know how to elevate your system privileges to allow you to install the update that it just downloaded. You need to run the CMUD314_SETUP.EXE file that was downloaded to your Windows Temp directory manually, or download it from the Download/CMUD menu at the top of this web site and run it manually.
I hope to fix this before the public release, but dealing with the UAC stuff in Vista and Windows 7 to handle this is a real pain.
Why did you need to use your key again? You should never need to re-enter your license key unless you have reinstalled Windows or reformatted your hard disk somehow.
The email that you received with your license key specifically tells you that the key is only valid for 7 days and gives instructions for how to retrieve your key from our web site if you need it again later. CMUD itself can't tell if you are entering an expired key because CMUD isn't even running at that point...it's a function of the copy protection system we use and I have no control over how that works. |

So after the upgrade didn't work, I downloaded it from the website, and installed the 3.14a. When I did so it asked for my key again. I tried getting a new one from the website, and it wouldn't accept it. The key is over 2 years old though.

Hmmm, I think I know the issue for the key. I installed the CMud 3.14a non-Pro version and then it wouldn't accept a Pro key. ;) User error.

Yep, that would do it. CMUD and CMUDPro use different license keys.
