Problems with CMUD in Windows 7 |
I can't seem to use cMUD in Windows 7. cMUD opens up with a bunch of runtime errors (saying certain tables like mudList and settings don't exist, plus memory errors), and it won't let me create any sessions. I tried 3.10 beta and 2.37 PRO, but neither seem to want me to connect to my MUD the way I'd like to. What should I do?

First things first, make sure you're running it as an administrator. Second, which Windows 7 are you using? 32-bit or 64-bit? I'm using 32-bit and don't have problems running CMUD at all. *shrug*
Your runtime errors are odd. Are you saving the reports and sending them so Zugg can take a look at them?

It seems to work alright now, but only when I use the default MUD list. If I try to make my own session, the data don't save, and I get two errors saying that the settings table doesn't exist and that the program can't write to my sessions.db file. I am using 64-bit Windows 7, and I have just now started to send the bug reports in.

When you install CMUD, make sure you select the %DOCUMENTS% option when prompted for the location of your Data Files. I suggest that you uninstall CMUD, remove your CMUD directories, and then reinstall from scratch. Also make sure you are running the Installer using the Admin account on your computer. But it sounds more like a file permission problem with the directories you are installing CMUD to that contain your sessions.db file. Plenty of people are running CMUD on Win7-x64 without problems.

I did all that, but that still didn't work. It complained about the settings table not existing, and then it said, "Cannot write to session file C:\Users\MathAndJavaChick\Documents\My Games\CMUD\session.db" when I tried to make a new session, since none of the regular sessions showed up. I had to click "OK" 11 times before the error disappeared. Also, "0 records() updated. Only one record should have been updated." appears whenever I press a key to enter the session name. It's really annoying. When I open the program after closing it the first time, it says, "SQL Error: database is locked."

Well, that means that either the "C:\Users\MathAndJavaChick\Documents\My Games\CMUD\" directory doesn't exist on your computer, or that you don't have write permission for that directory.

Wait, yeah, it doesn't exist, because Windows 7 went back to calling it "My Documents." It installed to C:\Users\MathAndJavaChick\My Documents\My Games\CMUD just fine though. I put the database stuff in "Same directory," and the program seems to be working perfectly now.
