closing status window, resetting layout |
i was playing with the status window the other day and thought i had deactivated it, but not whenever i open cmud the status window pops up, if i close it before i connect to my session it wont let me connect, so i gotta open the session then close the status window, after i had connected and closed it i closed my window and tried to do the shift click thing to refresh my settings, all this did was remove my main mud window from my chatline windows that were tabbed at the top, any idea how to get the main cmud window back? as of right now all it opens are my chat windows, the main cmud window isnt even listed in the window menu, and i just upgraded from 3.08 to 3.10 right before all this happened, tho i dont think that really has anything to do with it

ok, it appears the main window was just set to be invisible somehow, not sure how that happened, now it appears as an undocked window in front of my tabbed windows, that was strange

Save the layout the way you want it in the default session. If necessary, get rid of the default.xly file.

i got my layout saved and everything, but the status window still pops up when cmud first opens, before i select a session to connect to, then once i connect to a session the status window seems to dissapear, i guess a screen shot would be a good idea here it is:

now if i right click on the status window tab and select close cmud crashes, however if i connect to my session, the status window seems to dissapear and everything works fine, i cant locate it under the window menu, so it might still be hiding back there somewhere
also, i did try deleting the xly file and restarting, it didnt fix the status window thing either |

That means your untitled.xly layout (it controls everything but the Sessions window when CMud first opens) got corrupted. I don't think the SHIFT trick is accessible at that point, but I think untitled.xly is a safe file to delete. If not, a simple and quick reinstall will get you back to square one.
Once that's taken care of, if the problem still appears in the session but the SHIFT reset isn't persisting you have a bad toolbar somewhere. It could be any of them, though in my case it was consistently the mapper toolbar. You can safely delete all the .tbz files (though when in doubt, either don't touch them or rename them instead of deleting).
If that still somehow doesn't fix the problem, try exporting and reimporting your packages (tip, CMud doesn't overwrite stuff so you might want to delete everything in the package before reimporting to avoid duplication--it's beyond annoying having to delete thousands of duplicated room scripts). Unless you have some from the early portions of this beta cycle or earlier, this generally isn't the culprit.
If you didn't export or it didn't fix the problem, delete the toolbars (.tbz files). The mapper was recently rewritten, so is the most likely culprit. You generally also don't do much work TO the mapper, so it's also not generally obvious as the naughty sibling. |

Ok, i managed to get it to go away, i tried turning the status window off from the command line in my session several times with no luck but when i opened the cmud configuration setting file and changed statuswindow=1 to =0 it made the status window stop popping up at startup, thanks for all the help, i wish i had thought of looking here sooner, woulda saved everyone a lot of posting
