Vista telnet link on website |
Hi,
As telnet is not turned on by default in Vista it is harder to get players to log on your mud via a website.
Is there not a way to bypass this? Via a javascript? I have no idea but I am sure other mudhosters encountered the same problem?
I hope somebody knows the answer.
Cheers,
Andre |

I'm not sure of your question here but a couple of things. First Zuggsoft.com does not operate a MUD. It is the maker of zMUD, CMUD (the best mud clients available IMO) and TeSSH, a powerful scripting tool which is like PuTTY on steroids.
As for the Vista problem, since it's an OS/Firewall problem then it probably can't be (and definitely should not) be disabled via JavaScript as this would pose a SEVERE security threat. If you are having trouble with you local machine you can ask your local admin to change the permissions. |

Actually, the issue with Vista is that most of the time it does not install a telnet client by default (this is a change from previous version of the operating system). I'd suggest either including links to an online telnet client (I think mudconnector still has theirs) or include instructions on how to obtain one (either by letting them install the one from windows or obtaining another one).
