Having problems with paths and slowwalking |
After I upgraded to version 3.06 I've started having problems with slowwalking. What I'm trying to do is using a recorded path and make it move forward with the #OK command. Problem is it will not move to the next dir when I send the #OK. I have a map running for the mud and I had issues with getting slowalking to work as I wanted it to when the map was enabled in the 3.05 too, but what I did then was just disable the map and it worked. That doesn't seem to work anymore in version 3.06. Anyone have any tips?

By 'disabling the map', do you mean closing the map window? That does not actually disable the map. One of the intended features of 3.xx is that the mapper can continue to update locations even while the map window is closed, as long as the map has been loaded. This was not actually working up through 3.05, but is implemented in 3.06. That is probably the difference you are seeing. Just closing the map window does not disable the map.
The best solution would, of course, be to fix the problems with slowalking. Short of that, the thing that comes to mind is to unset your location object. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a simple way to set your location object to nothing. I have a method that will work. Type '#location fakeloc;#unloc fakeloc'. That will create a new location object and set it to be your current object, then deletes the object, leaving you with no current object while leaving your original location object intact. Another method would simply be to not load the map at all. You can avoid automatically loading the map by unclicking the 'Autoload on session start' box on the map object in your Package Editor. |

Thanks for the tips. Yeah that is my problem I think, that closing the map no longer disables it. I managed to get the desired effect by using #STEP but now it randomly add dirs to my path which makes it get stuck. I will try your tips and write back if I get it to work.

The #LOC, #UNLOC tip worked wonders. I switched back to #OK and it worked now that the mapper wasn't tracking me anymore. It seems the problem with random dirs added lies with #STEP too, because I had no problems going through the path with #OK. Thanks for the help!
