MCCP Compression Error |
Ok. I'm playing on a mud that uses MCCP Compression. I have no problems logging in normally. It even tells me compression is enabled. However, every time I reconnect it errors out. It says MCCP Compression Error and in the box is says Text ". That's all it says and clicking OK or on the X to close doesn't do anything, it reopens the error window. I have to force close cmud every single time this happens. What do I do to fix this?

What's the MUD? It'll help us to reproduce the problem, and also help Zugg tell if it's something the MUD's doing - which it probably is ;)

the mud is Islands of Myth. islandsofmyth.org port 3000. I dont know if the mud is doing something, but everyone else that plays on there seems to not have any issues.

Confirmed - I created a new session for the mud, created a new character and then once I'm at the "tour or north" part, typed #dis and then #con. Error box appeared.

I'll check into this. Usually this issue is caused by the MUD not resetting it's MCCP status and sending plain text when it should still be sending compressed text. If it's a bug in CMUD, then I'll fix it. But if it's a problem with the server not performing the MCCP negotiation correctly, then there isn't much I'll be able to do about it.

What should I tell the admins of the mud so they can check into it to see if it is their end?

I was talking to one of the admins and they told me to ask if you guys can connect in debug mode and see what it says when you get the error. He also said their MCCP Compression code was written years ago and doesn't know where to even find it at. He said if you can give some information from his debugging, he can find the exact problem and fix it, that is if it is a mud problem and not a software issue. I'm just an average guy when it comes to this so I'm just relaying information. Thanks
