Clicking on map background causes zoom to level 0 |
When I click on my map in zMUD 7.21 anywhere but in a room it zooms to level 0 and sometimes the center of that, sometimes one corner. Because of this I am unable to drag a box around room, create links any way other then walking them. Is there a setting somewhere I can change to fix this that I am missing?

You essentially have a broken map, more than likely one room being the culprit. Unless there's something available as part of/for MS Access or some other JET 4.0/ADO-compatible database manager, finding the culprit will require you going to the problem area by hand and either fixing it or removing the problem room and recreating it. There are no zmud-side tools available to help you with this, so it's often easier to burn the mapfile and start over.
Before going that far, however, you might try creating a new character with a new map (it'll suck, but you might want to avoid all the fun scripty stuff other than what's necessary to do the mapping). If the new map doesn't bug out, it'll confirm that your old map is delete-worthy and you can then switch to the new one via the File|Open method in the mapper. I would make a backup of the supposedly-good map, because the problem might be in your settings file rather than your mapfile and if so your settings problem will probably just destroy the new map.
A quick way to check your settings file is to shove it through the Migration Guide. If the problem still persists, perhaps you have gremlins in the ZMud application files (a simple reinstall on top of your existing copy should work, but you may have to take the appropriate steps to delete the old copy and fresh install a new copy). After that, I would start looking at the applications on your computer and doing trials with them where you uninstall/close them down to test for incompatibilities. There's no way for us to help you with that other than by sharing stories about specific apps, so can't really help you there.
Heh, if you're still reading, there are no settings in ZMud in general or the mapper specifically that would cause or prevent the activity you're describing. |

This isn't so much advice as it is a roll of the dice... but if you do find it's a mapper specific problem, Compact Map Database used to resolve some really odd mapper issues for me. Also you can make sure you have the latest JET/ADO engine.

I loaded an older (much older) version of my mdb and it is working fine it seems... Just have to fill in the many many many missing zones.
Another question, on my laptop (IBM X40) I have a scroll button, when I use it I can scroll through the map as if I were clicking and dragging the scroll bars. But on any of my desktops if I use the scroll wheel on my mice it zooms in and out. Is there a way to change this behavior on the PCs? |

Usually the mouse software has a way of changing what the buttons do.
