Cmud Pro Able To Be Used For Coding? |
Hi all,
I see Cmud Pro is now able to do SSH. I currently use putty for my coding needs, but would love to be able to use Cmud!
I tried it the other night, and am able to connect to shell, even enter the vi editor.
The problems then arose for me. I was unable to select a specific spot to begin editing, and it wasn't using the specified "theme" for my coding style - IE - searches through the code for specific strings were not highlighted in yellow, functions such as if were not yellow, etc.
Another issue is being able to use page up/page down buttons. Not sure if that is possible.
Long story short, is Cmud Pro going to be able to be used for coding purposes? Are these just settings I need to configure before being able to use it, or am I trying to use it for something it was never intended to do in the first place?
Thanks for any replies!

Edit - Figured out why it wasn't showing my "theme". Had it on vt100, switching to xterm fixed this issue. Now if I could just get the selection of where I would like to edit my work, that would be great! Thanks again for any replies.
Edit 2 - Wow...guess I should have just spent some more time looking at the options! Found the character mode emulation button and that has fixed all my "location" issues! Only one question left - Is it possible to use page up/page down buttons while in the vi editor. I will keep checking options to see if I can answer this one as well, but in the mean time, if any of you can save me a little time, that would be great!
Thanks for giving me a way to use Cmud for all my MUD needs!
Used Zmud since the mid-90's, looks like I'll be using Cmud Pro for quite a while now.
Keep up the great work! |

The short answer is "Yes", you can use CMUD Pro for this. In fact, the new TeSSH client is being targeted at business customers for just this purpose, and TeSSH is just CMUDPro with the MUD-specific stuff removed.
However, the 2.37 public version has bugs (like the PgUp/Down problem you mentioned). You might try the 3.05 beta version, or wait for the next public version, which should be released within a week or so.
On the "selection" issue, are you trying to use the mouse to select something? CMUDPro doesn't yet support xterm mouse support, although this is planned for the future.
But the page up/down issue is already fixed in the current beta. |

Awesome, glad to hear there is planned support for the mouse on xterm. :) Also glad to hear about page up/down. Will grab the beta version :)
Appreciate the info, and thanks for the great programs!
