map feature query/request |
I have not been participating in this round of CMUD beta, because I don't use the mapper. I sort of tried to start, during the leadup to the beta, but in the end continued using imapper since I have complete maps for it already, and was feeling too lazy to map again from scratch.
HOWEVER
I do have an interest in the mapper part of CMUD, since there is a chance I'll be able to convert my text IMap file at some point in the future.. so I thought I ought to ask a question here about a feature I would particularly like were I to be using CMUDs mapper.
I would like to be able to display temporary text next to room names, from script, in the map display window. Not to store the notes anywhere - I know that permanent notes are possible.
To make myself clear, imagine a script where you sense someone's location, and their name appears next to the room they are in.
Is that possible now? If not, is it conceivable for the future? |

You can set multiple location markers in the current beta. They don't get text next to them, but they can be different colours, so you can set up a location marker which moves to follow whomever around which will be extremely clearly visible.
(As long as you can handle the scripting to figure out where, really or close enough, the person is.) |

I think the general scripting for that kind of search is part of the (generous, I might add) offering by Vijilante in his toolbox package. That is to say, various functions that take care of the more complex bits anyway.
Thanks for the reply. Coloured tags would work well enough - different colours for enemy, target, immediate target list, allies. Then trig from fullsense style abilities to report a handy picture of the area. |
