CMUD giving an 'expired license' message at start up but license is ok.

When I launch CMUD I get this message in a pop-up box:

Your trial period has expired. Click the Buy button to purchase this software, or click the Enter Key button to enter your purchased license key.

When I paste in my name and license from the email from sales@zuggsoft.com Sun, 21 Dec 2008 07:19:09

I get this:

The name/key you entered does not appear to be valid. Please try again.

If i click cancel on the enter license box, cmud eventually starts up

After cmud starts, if I click 'help' / 'enter license' it shows the pop-up with 'This software is registered to: (same name as in the email)

Sounds like something went screwy there. I recommend doing a complete uninstall and then reinstall CMUD. Also keep in mind that license keys are only valid for a short period of time (one week I believe) after they are generated. After that you'd need to log in to the Zuggsoft store to have a new one resent to you.

Uninstalling and reinstalling probably won't help - but requesting a new license key from the store should give you a key that you can use to reregister. If you can't request a new key, use the form or send an email directly to support@zuggsoft.com. Zugg and Chiara are away for Christmas, but I suspect they'll still respond quite quickly to license errors.

Putting in a new license key did not help.

Uninstall/Reinstall gave me the 'Key does not appear to be valid' when I entered it during the install.

Very odd.

Do you have zMapper on your computer somewhere? When CMUD starts, it tries to find zMapper to load the zMapper plugin. If zMapper trial has expired, then CMUD displays the expiration message. So if clicking Cancel gets you into CMUD, then it's more likely that you were cancelling the zMapper expiration.

If this is the case, then either register zMapper, or remove it from your computer.

That did it.

I completely forgot that I had tried out zmapper. (Mainly since it does not offer a 'merge maps' function which would allow for easier sharing of map updates)

Then again, the zmapper trial expiring also caused zmud to give an odd 'expired license' message, which is what led me to the support site, where I found the discount cmud upgrade offer, which has me now upgraded to the cooler and flexible CMUD.

Very Happy
