Are there currently any plans for a new 'mapper' beyond the CMUD mapper, even long-termish? For those of us who like to take mapping 'above and beyond.'

Yes. A version of zMapper converted to use the new SQLite map database format is planned, but not until the CMUD mapper is working fully. Since there are a *lot* more CMUD customers than zMapper customers, I need to take care of the majority first. And yes, unfortunately there will be a period of several months where zMapper won't be able to read your CMUD map files and cMapper won't be released yet.
Some of the zMapper features, such as background images for zones, and custom room types will also be moved from zMapper/cMapper into CMUD directly. So during the time before cMapper is written, you should be able to do much of your map editing within CMUD itself.
The problem is just that there is a huge amount of work to do and I have to prioritize it. When I first wrote zMapper, it took over a year for the first version of it. cMapper won't take as long, but there are a lot of bugs in zMapper to be fixed (it never made it out of Beta status), and there aren't as many customers for it. zMapper also was developed in Delphi 5 and never even converted to Delphi 7. For cMapper I have to convert it to work in Delphi 2007, so that's more work. If more people had bought zMapper, then cMapper would have a higher priority. Right now my focus is on CMUD and trying to get existing zMUD users to switch to CMUD. |

Ok, that is kind of what I expected. I guess I can wait for cMapper and use the CMUD mapper until then. I was just debating making a lot of fancy maps in my spare time. I guess I'll just eagerly await the CMUD mapper then for now :)
