Zmud sometimes won't auto scroll

Sometimes after I alt+tab to firefox and back to zmud the auto scroll stops working. This is getting very annoying. :(

I'm using Zmud 7.21, Firefox 3.0.3 and Windows Vista Ultimate.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try scrolling up, then back down. Your problem might be that you've moved the bar between the two scrollback panes (one pane shows the current text, the other the text back up the buffer as you scroll up) so you can only see the buffer pane. If you separate the two and then re-attach them, it'll hopefully start looking okay again.

Well unfortunately I can't just reproduce the problem on demand, it seems to occur quite randomly. However the last time it happened I did scroll up and down and press Scroll lock a few times and use the button in the bottom right to turn the separation bars on and off and nothing worked.

Ok it happened again and I've tried all manner of scrolling around in both panes and nothing works. Any other suggestions?

The only thing I can think of would be that you have another window 'on top' of the main zMUD window and when you alt-tab away and back again, that on-top window gains the focus rather than your main zMUD scroll window. If that's the case, you have to manually click on the main zMUD window for it to gain focus so you can scroll again.

I've tried it, I've tried minimizing, maximising, using task manager to "Bring to Front" the zmud app, nothing works.

Backup (Export) all your settings and then backup your actual .mud files and your chardb... then uninstall zMUD, delete the directory, reinstall zMUD, copy your backed up .mud files and chardb over the new install. I've never had this problem, but that should fix it. The exported settings is in case its a problem that happens again when you copy your other backups over the fresh install.. in that case uninstall/reinstall again and recreate your character, then import your settings.

Unfortunately that didn't work either.

However, I have found out that if I move the split bar (you guys probably call it something else) up and down zMUD seems to recognise that text is coming in and starts auto scrolling again. I can live with that, as it really doesn't happen too often.

I just don't get it heh. I've used zMUD under different OS, including Linux, and never seen this behavior. I'm sorry we couldn't help you fix it.

Ah well like I said it doesn't happen -too- often to stop using Zmud. It's just irritating when I want to check something quickly as I tend to use only the keyboard while mudding and switching to the mouse distracts.

Agreed, I'm 99.99% keyboard when mudding. And I am ALWAYS alt-tabbing to the browser.

Perhaps check your keybindings if you have any. I had that problem before at least and that was the issue for me.

I haven't tried any new muds in quiet a while and I've got the keybindings set the same way as I've always set them. Also if it was some combination of keys that I pressed I think I would get the problem more often.

Try ctrl+Z. It's the way I reattach the text after I split it.
