I know there is a way to use a different 'dictionary' of known words, though i forget how off hand.

Not sure of the "official" way to change this but I guess the simplest way would be to replace american.adm dictionary in the CMUD install directory.
As long as it's compatible with the addict software dictionaries it should be fine. |

To wit, my attempt at helpful information. As a separate spellchecker would be in either a plugin or a call to a separate program, you will need to find/work with the COM/DLL interface for the plugin or separate application so that CMud knows where to send the information. I don't know how (at least, not well enough to attempt explaining how or commenting on technical specifics), and it's possible this functionality might still be broken. |

You were not very clear as to the reason you wanted to call a spell check engine as a plug-in.
Now, not knowing that the spell checker simply was not working for you, and not knowing
if you wanted more words or another language; they guessed and offered what little they knew
that might be of help to you.
As it happens there IS a fairly easy way to add more words by updating your spell check dictionary.
The american.adm is the English dictionary file that CMUD uses and you can get the newer file here.
http://www.addictivesoftware.com/dicts.htm
And you would paste that file into the Cmud program directory and overwrite the older file to use it.
Perhaps you should try doing this and see if it fixes your problem with the spell checker. If not turn it off again
and let us know.
Now I do not know how to call another program's spell checker. I'm sure it can probably be done by at least two
people who frequent these forums though; so you might get lucky and they won't be scared off by your flaming people
who already tried to help you. |
