zMAP used to do this |
I am using zMUD 7.21 now and when my maps were converted, they changed slightly in so far as the manipulation of the links going to other zones. I can't seem to add 'bends' to them like before. You used to be able to add bends to make the zone names overlap. So when you had multiple exits heading to the same room, you could overlap them to reduce clutter.
Here's examples of what I am talking about.
This is what it looks like now.
Other zone.
This is what I want it to look like, like zMUD 7.05(I think) was able to do.
Another example of a cluttered map, adding bends here to those links I was able to have one text saying Southern MG before.
Is it possible to do that now? I could be missing an option somewhere or I am not doing it correctly.

A simple way to reduce clutter is set the exit label to a space " ".

I'm not sure about your terminology here. Those aren't really "bends". "bends" are places where a link changes direction and actually bends. What you are showing are zone links. If you move a room to a different zone, then it will be shown with the link to the other zone.
So I guess I'm still just a bit confused by what you are asking, or what you used to do before. If you are really talking about true bends, you can still add a bend to a link by right-clicking on the link and adding a bend.
Or, if you are just trying to avoid overlapping zone names, Wizzywoo is correct that you can just change the exit label to a space, or uncheck the "Draw Link" option in the room properties. But I don't know about any changes between 7.05 and 7.21 that would causes differences. The mapper code hasn't been changed in a long time. |

7.05 allowed you to add a bend to a zone link as well, and I was able to move several zone links that were nearby to have the final "bend" overlap each other... I wish had an old picture showing exactly what I mean. Either way, zMUD 7.21 doesn't allow me to add a "bend" to a zone link, whereas, it did before. And I'd rather have the clutter, than to have no exit label, that kind of defeats the purpose.
Ah found an old map...
Notice how the links to Southern MG are as well as the two links to the river that are farther away than the "normal" zone link space in comparison to my first post above.

OK, I see what you are talking about now. But that hasn't changed in v7.21, so you should still be able to add a bend to a zone link. You might try zooming in more so that you can right-click on the link to add a bend. It's possible that it's just really hard to select the link properly to add the bend. But I've been working on rewriting the mapper for CMUD and the code to add bends doesn't care if it's a zone link or not as far as I can tell. But I know that in previous versions of CMUD, it was very hard to select links with the right-click, so maybe that's the same problem in zMUD 7.21. Zooming in might make the link large enough to be able to right-click on it.
If it still doesn't work then there isn't much I can do. zMUD is frozen, so you'd just have to wait for the new version of the mapper in CMUD in a couple of months. |

Yeah, zooming in does the same thing as when I am not zoomed in, nothing. zMUD says I can add a bend, but it never places one on the link, and when trying to move the link it unconnects it from the room and shows a line from the top left of the map to your mouse pointer... *shrug* guess I have to deal with this... I didn't really like the look of cMUD when I tried the trial, and I doubt I will end up purchasing another copy (cMUD would end up being 3 versions for me). But, who knows what the future brings.

Umm, you only have to purchase one copy per say. Then you'll get upgrades/updates for free for the next 2 years after
purchasing it. But maybe I misunderstood you because I haven't had my morning coffee yet. |

I bought zMUD 6.xx about 4 years ago with that crappy eLicense stuff, it quit on me, then I ended up purchasing the first zMUD without eLicense and if I buy cMUD now for a better mapper, that will be 3 copies I have purchased, just for a small insignificant "bug".

Well, if you had emailed us when you wanted to get the zMUD without eLicense, then we could have retrieved your original purchase and you wouldn't need to have purchased it again. And you'll get a whole lot more with CMUD than just an "insignificant bug fix".

Honestly at that time, I hadn't thought of that. I had the extra $ and decided to buy a new copy. I dealt with these forums for months trying to diagnose the problem with eLicense to no avail. Anyways, I am sure I would get a lot more from cMUD than just the mapper thing, but I am not sure what else I really need over the zMUD I am using now. I downloaded and looked at the cMUD "trial" and wasn't overly impressed with it.

That was probably some time ago wasn't it?
A lot has improved in the 2+ years that CMUD has been available not to mention that Zugg hasn't applied the 2 years license limit yet! |

After this discussion a bit ago, I downloaded the trial cMUD to check it out again to see if I liked it, and for some reason, when the trial ended, I went back to zMUD and it's telling me my trial is over and to re-enter a key or purchase zMUD. I have lost my registration key in my old e-mail inbox last year when I changed everything over to my new computer. How would I go about getting my key from you?

Email us at support@zuggsoft.com with as much information about your original purchase as you remember (like the email address you used). Or, you can just log into your Store account at https://www.zuggsoft.com/store and retrieve the license yourself. If you don't have your store password, use the Recover Password link on that page.
However, it might not be asking for your zMUD license key. It might be asking for your zMapper key if you have zMapper installed and if the trial for that ended. Both zMUD and CMUD try to load the zMapper plugin, and if zMapper trial has expired, then you'll get a license prompt for it. |

Yes, you are right, that is the case. I clicked Buy Now, and it sent me to zMapper purchase page. How would I stop zMapper from doing that? I assume zMUD has it set as a plug-in?

Just uninstall it, or register it.

so, i cannot click on links in the zmapper also. i'm not using zmud, so i'm assuming that this is CMUD's version of the zmapper. i am using an old zmap though. i don't want to remap what i've done. but it would be really useful to fix things by being able to click on the links. i've managed so far to fix minor problems using the options>directions part but it's just simpler to do it in the regular map interface.
