Flash Drive

I keep my packages and map files on my flashdrive.

Everything works fine except that each time i go to map a new area, it has forgetten the mapping configuration that was set previously.

It remembers for the duration the session is open, but as soon as it gets closed and reopened, it forgets again.

I hope the new mapper doesnt have this issue.

Thanks for all the hard work Zugg, if not for you i might not still be mudding.

When you installed CMUD did you tell it that your "data files" were located on your flash drive? Or did you just try to move the files manually and set the path in your Edit Session screen? The CMUD installer writes to a registry variable to tell it where to read/write your data files by default, and that might be causing this problem if you didn't set it properly at install time.

The new mapper will probably have the same problem, so if it does, just report it as a bug when the new version comes out.

I reset it afterwards, as only one session is done this way.
Is there anyway that CMUD could look at the complete filenames and adjust the variable as needed?
Or for it to check the folders that other files in a given session are stored in, if not found in the default spot?

Is it possible for it to be set to save it both locally and remotely at the same time?

Sounds like a bug. It is supposed to read/write the *.zfg configuration file to the same path as the *.mdb map database that is open. But you might check your DataFiles location to see if you have a duplicate *.zfg file somewhere else. I think if CMUD finds a *.zfg file in the Datafiles directory (like My Documents\My Games\CMUD\MUDName\MUDName.zfg) then it might use that instead of looking on the flash drive.

So check for any duplicate files elsewhere on your disk and let me know what you find.

You might also try selecting File/Open in the mapper window and specifically locate the *.mdb file on the flash drive to force CMUD to store that path for the map file for the session.
