CMud Pro needed for ZMapper hookin? |
Whilst I happily support Zuggsoft in its endeavours (I have multiple copies of CMud and ZMud for my individual computers, even if I'm the only one using them), I have to wonder about this.
As often mentioned, the mainstay of the Pro version is its SSH support, which just as admittedly, isn't a major requirement for many people. On the other hand, many people playing MUDs would like to be able to refine their maps, and they would buy zMapper (Vista compatibility not withstanding), and CMapper when it finally comes out. Surely the interaction should be between CMud and z/CMapper, not wether you have CMud Pro or not.
Ultimately, yes, I will get at least one copy of Pro so I can have this interaction, and yes, i'll probably get Pro for each of my copies of CMud, but it could be seen as saying'CMud Pro isn't selling very well just on its SSH benefits, lets make another set of CMudders have to get it so they can interact with their beautified maps'.
That said, I'll keep hitting zMapper over the head until it behaves itself in Vista. Neither it, or the ZMud automapper within CMud, are particularly stable.
Roll on CMapper,
Yours,
Ann-Marie

No one has said that you need Cmud Pro to use Zmapper/Cmapper. You can use Zmapper and eventually Cmapper with regular Cmud.

Rehab is correct. zMapper works with the normal CMUD. CMUDPro is not required if you already buy zMapper/CMapper.

That will serve me right for posting too quickly after mis-reading a line in the 2.30 Announcement post.

In addition to the SSH Support, CMUDPro also enables the zMapper COM-based scripting plugin, even if you don't own zMapper. This allows you to view zMapper-enhanced maps within CMUDPro without zMapper, and allows you to use all of the COM-based scripting that is documented in the zMapper help file. |
As it happened, immediately after posting, I took the plunge and bought an upgrade to CMud Pro, a) because of the mis-understanding, and b) because I still wanted to show support, and c) in case there would be any other things that 'worked better with Pro'. And having seen the incredibly reasonable price asked for the upgrade, and to make up for this erroneous post (and support Zugg), I'll probably upgrade my other copies of CMud as well.
Looking forward to CMapper. I'd be first in line for the beta versions if I could be - even for alpha versions . Meanwhile, I'll keep hitting zMapper over the head til it behaves.
Yours,
Ann-Marie
