ETA of v2.28 |
There were still too many problems in v2.27 to leave it alone, so yes, I am planning to release v2.28 this week. Hopefully on Thursday.
The serious problems were the fact that the upgrade was clearing out the passwords for sessions, and that someone report an exploit in the MXP code that would allow people to "spoof" text that looks like it was sent from the MUD. But there were a large number of other problems that I found along the way and am trying to fix.
It's even possible that 2.28 won't be good enough to leave while I'm working on the mapper stuff since I had to change a few things in both the parser and in the ANSI/MXP color code, and changes to those parts of CMUD often cause unintended side-effects. Hopefully this won't be a problem. But if 2.28 causes new problems like that, then I'll work on 2.29 for next week. I'm determined to get CMUD beat into submission before I start working on the mapper stuff! |

OK, 2.28 is available for downloading. If all goes well, then tomorrow I'll change the Auto-Update Check for New Version so that everyone else will get the new version.
As you can see from the Version History, there were a lot of bug fixes still in this version. It's actually more fixes than I'm normally comfortable making in a public version. So it's possible that I screwed something new up with a side effect to a bug fix.
As usual, please post bug reports or problems to a NEW TOPIC and put [2.28] in your topic subject (along with a description of the problem).
In particular, I'm interested in any remaining problems with the Smart Command line. I made a lot of changes in 2.28 so that it is "smarter" about deciding whether to send your command to the MUD or whether it is a scripting command you want to execute. This should improve CMUD a lot on MUSHes/MUCKs/MOOs that use a lot of special characters.
Also spent another several hours debugging MXP and Ansi display problems, and the HTML logging. I'm actually starting to regret adding HTML logging since it has caused so many headaches and problems in the code.
Anyway, let me know how it goes. Hopefully it's still an improvement over the previous version. |

Since there haven't been any emergency problems with v2.28, I have updated the "Check for New Version" file with the new version.

It's looking very solid for me.
I still have the occasion lock-up but that's just about my only issue at this point since essentially every bug I've come up with has been fixed. |
