cmud backup |
I have to backup everything in CMud because I have to send my computer in for repairs.
what is the absolute best way to do it? Each time I've done it in the past, it's never actually worked properly.
I want to backup 3 characters, all their triggers/aliases, maps... etc |

Assuming your data is stored in the default location for 2.26 then just backup your My Games folder in your My Documents folder to your external source. This should save everything about your character. When you get your computer back and if/when you need to restore, just recopy the folder back into the same location. Although I would delete the current My Games folder before copying your backup folder back on to the HDD, just to eliminate any issues.

The specific folder you'll want will be My Games\CMUD - that contains all the files that CMUD writes your personal stuff to. If you're using commands like #write or #log or #debugfile, you might want to also check that those files aren't in your installation directory (probably Program Files\CMUD) as well, because some of those manual-write commands send their data to that folder.
When you want to restore it, you just install CMUD again and then paste your old My Games folder on top of the new one. And Toxic's right - deleting the new one first might be a good precautionary step. |
