Help with room exits

Common room exits are "enter" and "out", however I'm having trouble figuring out or finding information on how to incorporate those directions into the mapper. When in a room that has enter (or out) as an exit, I'd like to enter the room and have the mapper follow me to that zone. I tried adding the direction using #DIR but was not successful.

I tried using #PORTAL, and created a portal using the room name that I want to end up in, but I'm not to familiar with that command and had trouble finding info on it (any links?).

Thanks a bunch for any help.

From the command line when mapping the room you do this when moving through a custom named exit:
>enter>n
>out>n

where n is the direction in which the mapper should put the room.

Extra bonus feature of doing it this way - when you press your keypad 8 macro with that setup, it'll send "enter" instead of "north".

Thanks a ton! One question though: if one of the main directions is used (n), then how do you keep the mapper from thinking you've moved north when you exit? I tried the above and it worked like a charm going in, but exiting, I remained in the correct room while the mapper placed me one room north.

Thanks again!
