[2.22] Layout issues |
Instead of posting a screenshot (which I know will be a little quicker), I'm going to illustrate what's going on with layouts and whatnot using regular characters. :P
I recall before that when you moved a child window to the side, the main window's command line would shorten, resulting in the below:
| Code: |
+--------------------+----------+
| Main window | Child |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
+--------------------+ |
| Main command | |
+--------------------+----------+
|
Well, as of lately, I can't seem to get it to do that. Instead, all I can manage is this:
| Code: |
+--------------------+----------+
| Main window | Child |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
+-------------------------------|
| Main command |
+-------------------------------+
|
So, I'm not sure if it's a bug with the layout itself (I seem to recall that I could do that with earlier versions) or if I'm missing something here. This does create a problem because now, not only do multiline commands need to resize the main window, but it also needs to resize every child window I have open, too. Also, it seems that child windows can be treated as a flyout window. Not sure if that is intentional or not, though. Any suggestions?

I cannot reproduce this, so maybe your layout is corrupted. Here is what I did:
1) Run CMUD, Close Sessions,
2) Type: #WINDOW Test
3) Drag the new Test window and drop it on the Right-arrow icon that appears near the right edge of the main window (or drop it on the right-arrow in the compass that is displayed in the middle of the main window)
This gives me the Test window docked like in your first picture. The Test window also gets it's own command line (which is a bug in v2.22). But entering a multiline command into the main window command line only resizes the main window and not the Test window.
If this works in a blank session but not in your own session, then your Layout file might be corrupted. Hold down the SHIFT Key when you open the session Offline to reset the layout.
And yes, Child windows can be set to be Flyout. That is a feature. |

Ah. There we go. Didn't think of the corrupted layout route. Thanks.
