This package is marked as Read-Only.

At the bottom of my package window i get this message (since I updated to 2.18). Changes are no longer saved automatically into my .pkg file. Any idea where I can make this undone and switch off the Read-Only thing.

On the toolbar at the top, there's a button to open the package properties. Open it, and uncheck the option at the bottom.

Ok...I have the new CMud 2.18 and I looked around but I don't see an option on the bottom to uncheck. Could you be more specific as to what we need to look for? I'm having the same problem with read only package that I can't add new scripts nor change current ones and have it save. Right now I'm a bit frustrated with CMud.

Thanks

Does this help? The package properties option and then the Read-Only box are ringed.

PostPosted: Thu Dec 27, 2007 1:25 pm   Package read only and name changed

Hi,

I had the same problem more than once. Cmud makes it read-only every now and then. Evenmore, it renamed the package name to 'All'. This is not a convenient name, because that name already exists. How can i rename this? The pkg name itself is not named 'All', and this name is altered by Cmud itself. It crashes on regular basis due to this name i think. I moved all my scripting to a new file and it worked for 2 weeks and now the same problem.

Regards,
Pjotr

Grrrr Pjotr is right... same thing happens again. Somehow the package was again marked as Read-Only. Neutral At least now I know how to fix it, but the fix seems to be a short term fix. I am still looking for something more perminent.

There've been quite a few reports related to this problem - definitely seems there's a bug with the Read Only option sticking.

Have you done any searches that came up with no results?
The package shows as set to read only when this occurs or appears to then when you hit cancel it appears to be set back to normal.

If you HAVE done the searches that returned no results it is possible that it really IS being set to read only on the search...

If you have NOT then please mention that too.

Nod. That can be. It also renames the package sometimes. And sometimes packages just disappear in the tab's.

If anyone can come up with a procedure to reproduce the "Read Only" problem, please let me know. I haven't been able to reproduce this at all in v2.18.

Also, keep in mind that the Package Editor will sometimes display a tab called "All". This isn't your package name, but is a tab used to display all packages that you have loaded at once. You can try using the "Show Default Packages" option in the View menu to force this tab to be displayed. It is normally only displayed when more than one package is being displayed in the editor.

It still happens to me now and then in v2.18.

If I find a way to reproduce it at will I'll certainly post it.

Ditto, I'm getting it a lot. Often happens if CMUD doesn't close properly for whatever reason.
Will see if I can nail down a cause though

I have located the cause of the read-only problem or, at least, one of the causes. It happens to me each and every time I do this...

#CLOSE windowname

This is guaranteed to make the package read-only 100% of the time.

I am running Vista Home Premium and cMUD 2.18

Thanks for the additional info on this. I'll add that to the bug list and see if that helps me track down the bug.

I think I have found the cause of this problem. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next version.

Soon! Middle of the week perhaps, maybe the weekend. Ultimately, though, it'll be ready when it's ready.

ok have another way for you to have the problem come up
1. have multple packages that you load for diferent things ie... speedwalk paths, channel cap,
status line/window controls, keypad override for particular game type, basic training contorls
2. have those packages shared between diferent games
with the above steps you will have the main package for a particular game lock read only.
