CMUD Processor Utilization |
Hey all,
I was hoping I could get some input on an issue I have encountered with CMUD Pro.
I am looking into using CMUD Pro as my SSH client for some applications I use at work. As a client, it is a lot more feature rich than my other options for SSH clients, plus I have some experience with ZMUD so I already know how to do some basic scripting with it. I know Zugg has TeSSH on the drawing board, but was hoping to use CMUD until he made that available.
One problem I have encountered with it though is that when I try to do things like grep large log files, the CPU spikes to such an extreme that I can't really do anything else until CMUD finishes up.
I have looked for options in CMUD to limit this, but have not been able to find any. Is there any way to limit the CPU utilization on CMUD Pro?
I have found a work around by setting the process priority on CMUD Pro to low, but this is not ideal for me because I normally run several instances of my SSH client at once, and do not want them all unavailable if one of them is chewing on a large mail log, but at least it allows my other applications to not be affected
Thanks :) |

Depending on how and what you are doing with the log, it might be possible to use a threading solution to drop the processor utilization. Such things are quite complex and I probably wouldn't have time to write anything for you in the near forseeable future.
