Hello! I'm a total newb to this whole Mud thing, and I have only been recently trying to figure out how to do this.

So it seems I can't connect to the internet from zMUD, since the connection bar on the bottom is always red and I can't connect to any MUDS. Plus, I can't check for updates or anything involving the internet. Yet my computer internet connection status is perfect, I can use any other internet related things fine. And as far as I know, I'm not using a proxy server. I can't think of anything else that is preventing me from connecting, so any suggestions?

1)check your firewall settings. ZMud might have been excluded.

2)at work, school, or somewhere in which you don't get to fiddle with the hardware without getting into serious legal trouble? Could be that certain ports are disabled as part of that security effort. Walk up to the person in charge of such things and ask them point blank if it's ok to play games online. If they say yes, your next question is to have them walk you through the process. If they say no, don't try to go around them unless you don't mind risking firing, expulsion, or even arrest.
