[Linux 2.17] Reporting bugs with CMUD in Linux - should we do it?

Disclaimer: I fully understand CMUD is only supported in XP and Vista and that if anyone gets it working anywhere else then that's good for them but officially they're on their own.

That said, with Crossover and other WINE derivatives able to support the Microsft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Steam and WoW then we can probably assume their implementation of the Windows API is fairly solid. Would pointing out bugs in this alternative implementation help make CMUD more 'standard', and have the side effect of improving it's function in Windows proper?

Other Disclaimer: I have no idea how accurate this speculation is and know nothing much about Linux or WINE (the software type anyway), feel free to shoot me down if required Wink

The bug that I was thinking about when I mentioned this is.

Open CMUD (in Linux)
The 'Untitled' window is out of place, shifted a few inches to the right with some empty space at the left.
Click File -> Close All. The Untitled session closes and reopens, this time displayed in the correct place.

So in this case I wonder if Linux is exaggerating a bug that might exist less noticably in Windows too?

Certainly don't send me any official crash dumps or emails when running on Linux (or in any other emulators). Feel free to post questions to the forum, but always make sure you are very clear that you are running in an emulator in Linux. This allows other people with Linux experience to help you. But honestly, I'll probably just ignore most of the posts. There is just no way for me to support it, and often those issues are buried deep within either the Windows API, or within the Delphi system or 3rd party components that I am using. I can only fix something if I can reproduce it myself on a normal Windows system.

I'd *never* make that assumption. The Windows API is too complex to ever get "perfect" emulation. They are just able to more easily test popular applications and get more feedback from users.

Probably not because it will usually be very difficult to determine the source of the problem. Only if it can be reproduced in standard Windows will it be something that can be fixed.

Anyway, so like I said, the forum is useful if you are looking for workarounds or suggestions from other users, but it's not very useful for me in actually improving CMUD.
