ETA/Status of v2.05 |
OK, as I've been discussing over in the Simple Color trigger failure thread, I think I've made some really good progress in fixing many threading issues. I've still got some bugs to fix. For some reason the #COLOR command isn't coloring the correct line yet, so there are some loose ends to work on. Also, I need to test some of the #CAPTURE bugs that have been reported, and also look into the lockups when the Settings Editor is open.
I've got a Doctor's appointment and some errands to run tomorrow, so I've decided not to release any sort of "quick fix". Instead, I will shoot for releasing v2.05 on Friday and let people play with it over the weekend. Chiara's parents are visiting this weekend, so I won't have much time to answer forum posts. They actually arrive on Friday afternoon, so I will try my best to get 2.05 released before they arrive. 2.05 is already working *much* better than 2.04 on my system here and I've got some good test scripts to work with now. So hopefully 2.05 will be a big improvement for everyone.
Thanks for all of the help with the beta testing...it's really helping a lot. |

I released v2.05 this afternoon.
NOTE: I didn't make any performance improvements in this version, so it still might be slower than v1.34. In particular, I have a lot of extra "thread locks" in this version to try and deal with problems of CMUD hanging, and I probably have more than I need (which hurts performance a bit).
Mainly, I need to know if there are still any problems that cause CMUD to hang. Or, if there are any problems with triggers and alarms not running. Please create new posts for bug reports.
I need to go pick up my father-in-law at the airport, but I'll be back later tonight to check on testing progress. Please test v2.05 as much as you can this weekend. Next week I'll continue to fix more of the bugs that are still on my list and do some performance tuning. Good luck with the testing! Hopefully 2.05 will be a lot better than 2.04 was. |

Also note that I didn't fix *all* of the reported bugs yet. So there are still some problems that were reported in 2.04 that haven't been fixed yet. However, because the threading problems were causing so much "weird" stuff to happen, it's possible that some of the other bugs are also fixed.
In general, if you were having a really weird problem that was hard to reproduce, post again (or bump your other topic) if you still have it with 2.05. I'm hoping that 2.05 has less of these kinds of problems, which should make it easier to track down and fix normal bugs. It might also uncover some new bugs that were hiding behind all of the threading issues. |
