[2.04PRO] #ADDITEM problems

I'm having problems with stringlists stored in db vars, in particular using #ADDITEM and #DELITEM. Results vary from duplicated variables, to aliases being created and given the same name as the variable and variable properties. The following shows the problem regularly :
#var myvar ""
#addkey myvar key test
#additem myvar.key wobble |

Further to the above post, the strange duplicates/aliases/lockups occur when the Settings window is open, closing that seems to cure the duplicates etc., but it is still not giving the desired results with regards to adding the item to the list.
