[2.02] Cannot delete rooms in Map mode |
I am mapping and made a mistake - tried to highlight 4 rooms, and tried both Del button and right-click menu (Delete Room{s}).
Neither one works.
I've tried changing windows in and out - no luck. |

This has been mildly intermittent for me, it'll happen for certain rooms and then disappear for a day or two and just when I start to think it was a fluke, back it comes.

And I haven't been able to find anything specific that causes it. It just does.

Does it work if you *do* dock the map? Most of my mapper testing is with the mapper window docked these days. But I can't reproduce it on either of my test maps here (docked and undocked both work fine for me here).
What if you close the mapper and reopen it?
Do you have multiple windows open? Maybe the mapper is losing which window it is supposed to be associated with? |

It's happened to me many times as well, I usually dock or undock the map and it allows me to delete it.

Will confirm. Switching it from docking to undocking and vise-versa allows you to go ahead and delete the room.
I'm not sure if it will be easy to pinpoint this, as nothing specific seems to trigger it. Though, if I think about it I do tend to have this problem when I map to a room that already exists and it makes a new copy instead of just linking. Not sure if it happens just on having the same room title as another room or not. |

What that means is that CMUD is losing the connection between the Map window and which MUD window it corresponds to. So, it shouldn't have anything to do with creating new room copies or anything like that. It's more likely related to how the layout is being saved, or how any other windows are being created or closed. If you figure out a way to make it fail, let me know so I can try to fix it.

Also, switching to another program and back makes it unstuck for me as well.
I might have a reasonably good way to reproduce it as well..
Use a directional exit in the game that doesn't exist in the room for a reference before typing in the proper exit direction.
Go into preferences for the room and switch it to other and whatnot to make it proper.
Go immediatly back to directional mapping.
Often the first new room i make has the 'other' exit without my wanting it to and has the hang on delete issue, if its not placed in the wrong direction entirely.
If both rooms already exist and you manually draw the link and then edit it, it doesn't hang... or at least it then doesn't mess up and make a room i want to delete. |

I found at least one cause of this. When I tried to delete multiple rooms at one point the focus shifted to the Zone pull-down, and wouldn't unshift with simple clicking on different rooms, which meant I couldn't delete anything. I was able to use the zone panel to get away from the zone drop-down, and then I could delete things again.

The zone panel problem would prevent the Delete key from deleting a room, but he mentioned that the right-click menu didn't work either, and the right-click Delete option should *always* work no matter what has the focus. So I'm not sure that's the same problem that the original poster reported.
