Spam Protection bug? (or "Feature") and Question |
Just noticed something.
Aardwolf (like I'll bet most other muds) has a warning if you enter the same command in more than a certain # of times.
I've set up zmuds "Spam Protection" for 19 of the same entries before it sends a command to the mud to break out of that alert.
Now, I've got a script that when in a note sends one word and then using the note system replaces that word with a longer string (The note system allows only up to 75 chars or something and my strings are usually longer) using the #send command.
Now, shouldn't the #send count as "Sending text to the mud" and absolve the whole "Spam Protection" thing from even working?
I get my spam protection command every 19 lines.
qwerty
#send {.r qwerty ~"Command goes here~"}
after 19 of those I get the spam protection command which i would THINK i shouldn't since technically i'm sending 2 diff commands back to back..
As for the question:
Is there a way with a command to turn off and off the spam protection? PITA a$$ to go in, set the setting to not work, write the note, then have to remember to go back and reset them to back on. |

There's no command that I'm aware of in zMUD. In CMUD you could change this programmatically with the function to update preferences (can't recall the exact command off-hand.)
With that said, I agree with you. This does sound like a bug. It's reasonable to expect #SEND to reset the SPAM count. |

Thanks Tech.
BTW, before someone chimes in with the whole, "Zmud isn't under development and any bug reports won't matter" type of response, I know. I just wanted to make sure that my way of thinking was logical. |

No worries, I'll bet dollars to donuts the same holds true for CMUD but I could be wrong. Zugg has done a lot of great work with CMUD. I'm actually suprised you've not upgraded, especially especially with all the gee whiz stuff coming in version 2.0.

err...nah...while I only viewed the beta or whatever version of cmud I was not exactly happy with it.
Packages modules....all that stuff....
just gimme a damned window and ways to edit stuff.
from what it was before had to jump thru hoops just to get something done.
I'm VERY content with zmud 7.21 and really have no intention to upgrade.... |
