[1.30] Problem with Overriding Default Settings |
I've created a new package to hold my font and color settings for my sessions, and it's loaded by my session, but it won't override the default settings. Is there perhaps something silly I'm doing wrong?
Actually, this is what I see, I didn't notice it before. When I load up my mud session, the colors are not displaying correctly, it's still using the default colors. However, when I open up the colors property page in the preferences editor the Foreground Colors tab contains the exact colors I specified in the package that's supposed to be overriding the defaults. So they are there, but CMUD is still using the defaults to display stuff for whatever reason.. |

Nevermind, the colors are working properly, I just wasn't paying attention. However, the fonts aren't saving into the settings. It still uses the default fonts when I start up the sessions. This, I assure you, is really happening, and I'm not imagining things like with the colors. :P

Make sure your other package contains a *module* and make sure it's that module that sets the different font. To make sure, load the package and then click Prefs and then select the hidden menu in the upper-left part of the preferences window to select the Module menu, and then select your module name in the sub menu. The caption for the window should say "Preferences for modulename" where modulename is the name of your module. This is the only way to set the preferences for a specific module in a specific package. And your sessions will only inherit preferences from modules and not windows within a package.

Yes, it has a module (same name as the package), and the fonts are set appropriately for it (all Courier New, 10). It's also in the list of packages when I edit the session. What I find interesting is that once I load the mud session, and open my settings editor, this package is not in the list of the packages that are open (there are several other packages there however). If I manually open the package that contains these settings, it loads and comes up, but rather than getting a new package tab, it replaces the tab for the session package. And when I click on the tab for the session after loading it like this, the settings for the session package come up in it's place. This all seems very strange to me. Perhaps CMUD realizes its just an 'interface settings' package and doesn't list it with the others.
But yes, it has a module, and the settings are in there as I want them to load. Please advise. :/ |

I guess I'll need you to send me all of the relevant packages along with a description of how they are set up in your Session package loading list. I can't reproduce this, and the behavior you mentioned does sound very strange. As long as the package isn't listed in the Default Packages in your Preferences, then you should always get a tab for it in the settings editor. You can select View/Show Default Packages to be sure you are seeing *all* of the packages. But it does sound like something is corrupted, and people have reported problems with the fonts not being saved correctly in corrupted packages.

Ah, with that turned on (show default packages), it does show up. This package has nothing inside except that one module, which the font/color settings are a part of. Do I use the Help->Send Feedback menu item to send it to you? And how much stuff do you want?

No, you need to send the relevant *.PKG files to sales@zuggsoft.com as email attachments.
