I have been using sounds as a signal but they can be quite distracting. Do any of you use other methods to monitor your mud screen when you're in another window?

I personally use two monitors. I keep things like IRC and the MUD when I'm not focusing on it on the second monitor, where they're in glancing distance but not in the way.
I don't necessarily recommend getting two monitors though. While just about everyone can benefit from it and it's pretty cheap (You can get 19" TFTs for as little as £120), you get a sort of more-monitor craving. Next time I get a new computer, I'm upgrading to three, plus a TV. |
