Got Vista? There's another thread about someone having a MUD-specific connection problem on Vista that's nothing to do with zMUD (even telnet.exe won't work).

Are you able to connect to the mud via telnet? Doing this will help determine if it's a connectivity issue or something else. Also can you connect to other muds using zMUD?

Yes i can connect to other muds,as far as Telnet i dont have it installed on my computer. Know of any place i can get it. I did try using the trial version of Cmud and that didnt work either. I was thinkin the Exile mud could be down, but my cousin said he had gotten on yesterday morning, where as i havnt been able to in like a week or 2.

If you're not on Vista, you have telnet. Start->Run and then enter "telnet".

Which Windows are you running, actually?

What's the address of this MUD and I'll see if I can get a connection on XP.

Telnet timed out, but ping worked. If the server really is up, it's not taking connections on that port.

Your best bet would probably be to contact the whoever runs the MUD.

I've been looking high and low myself on how to contact anyone from Exile myself as I originally thought that I was band from the mud for some reason. (anyone knowing me well wouldn't be too supprised.)

The admin e-mail for exile doesn't work either as it seems to be on teh same server. The web site doesn't work. Was thinking there would be some update on the website too. The system is physically operational, as you can tell when pinging it but will not take any connections (e-mail, http or telnet attempts)

If anyone has any bright ideas on how to trace down an administrator for a mud or even a URL, pls drop me a line because I'm getting some major withdraw symptoms, tokens at every corner, relics in every corpse... I hit a deer the other day on the highway and searched the corpse quickly before driving off. For the good of all, help use out here eh?

I have good news for everyone from Exile! I spoke with the server admin and found out that there was a HD crash on the server. They believe a good backup was kept and is being restored to a new drive on the server. I heard exile may be back up as soon as Tuesday feb 27th! :) WOOT!
