Getting past the firewall...

Ok, I'm not even going to pretend. I want to be able to connect to my favorite MUSH/MUD from inside the companies firewall here. I know port 80 and 8080 is open, but that's just about it. Is there ANYWAY I can tunnel out and connect to my computer at home, and somehow have that act as a proxy between my computer here at work and the rest of the MUD world?

I hope that makes sense. In summary, I want to be able to by pass the firewall here at work and connect to a MUD. Thanks! :)

You cannot play MUDs via a web-only proxy like that. Some firewalls are designed specifically to prevent telnet connections (which is what a MUD connection needs). You'll probably need to contact your network admin to ask how to do a telnet connection at work. Keep in mind that bypassing a firewall at work like that without approval could get you fired.

I'm tight with the network administrator here. If I can get past it, I'll be sure to let him know I did. Thanks for the reply! Smile

If you have an SSH account somewhere that allows forwarding, you can use that. Get PuTTY and read up on it. There's a thread round here somewhere on it, too, have a search.
