Hi, are there any versions available that can be used on Windows Mobile? Thanks.

Uh, no. And there never will be. The concept of trying to play a MUD on a Mobile keyboard just makes my cringe. But the technical reason is that zMUD/CMUD are written using Delphi, which doesn't have a version for Windows Mobile. So there is no way for me to port the code, even if I wanted to. Keep in mind that we are talking about 1.2 MILLION lines of code in zMUD. It's huge. But I don't even know if you can find a plain Telnet client for Windows Mobile. Just doesn't make a lot of sense for text-based applications like MUDs.

We use a product called "Wavelink" for our green-screen applications at work. You pay pretty hefty prices for the privilege and it doesn't have any features like triggers or aliases, it's primarily designed to be used by forklift drivers in the warehouse. Still, I've MUDded from it before, just for kicks, and yes, typing "north;kill rabbit" using mobile phone style messaging was very frustrating ;)

Well, I'm in a situation where the firewall here doesn't allow any sort of telnet connections out. Just for the record, there are many telnet clients for PocketPCs, and even a 'mud client' for the HP Ipaqs - it's called PocketMud, however it doesn't have triggers etc. But from what I can see, they're all pretty basic.

I think mudding from a handheld device isn't that bad. Because there are handhelds with a small QWERTY-style integrated keyboard. And really, for most text-based muds today, you just need triggers to play it fairly efficiently, reducing your need to type too much on your handheld.

Plus the fact that wireless broadband is getting fairly accessible and common, mudding while you're on an hour-long commute to work is very appealing. Hence my search.

Anyways, all that's fairly academic.

Thanks guys.

There are several solutions to firewall problems. It's unlikely that there isn't a workaround to your firewall blocking telnet connections out.

For example:
