setting up cmud for multiple chars |
I'm starting to use Cmud to run different characters on the same mud, not at the same time as in multiplaying, I simply have different characters that i log in from time to time. My question is this, what is the best way to deal with script differences between characters? Is it best to create one package, then code in different actions if %char = my first char or something like that, or is it better to set up a "general" package then an individual one for each of the other chars I have, or is there another solution?
Thanks |

Probably best if you put each distinctive script in its own package, though that would be impossible if many of them had to interact (while packages CAN do so, they aren't really supposed to). This will then allow you to control which packages are loaded for each character you log in with, which you can edit as needed via the Character Properties.

Put scripts to want both characters to have in their own package and add that package to the list of packages loaded with the session (Rclick on the session icon, edit, files tab, press the green plus to add items to the list). Scripts you don't want shared can go in each session's package.
Using %char would be the easiest way to reference the character's name, but I'm surprised how little I actually have to use that.
NB: Create a NEW package for those shared scripts, by the way. |
