[1.23] Sessions window sometimes has "Stay on Top" |
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open CMUD so that the Sessions window is visible.
2. Keep pressing Alt-tab until you find that the window you asked to switch to is partially obscured by the Sessions window. The number of times you need press Alt-tab is variable. Sometimes, just 1. Sometimes quite a few. Seems pretty random.
This has been a minor annoyance is all versions of CMUD so far, I think. I use alt-tab a lot.
Windows XP SP2. |

Yes, this is yet another bug in Windows handling of Stay-on-Top windows. The Sessions window *is* marked as Stay-on-top. You can change this by clicking the icon in the upper-left corner of the session window to get the drop-down window options menu. Turn off the Stay on Top option and it should remember that in your INI file. You'll need to do this each time you delete your INI file (like when doing a clean install).
The session window needs to default to stay-on-top to avoid being hidden behind the main CMUD window where new users might not be able to find it.
Sorry this is annoying, but there are *lots* of stay-on-top issues in Windows that are annoying and I've tried for years to fix these issues in zMUD too. Maybe Vista won't have these problems, but I'm not counting on it. I have no idea why this particular window wants to stay on top of other applications. I have seen this problem too. But the session window is being set to stay on top the same as any other window (like the package library, for example) and only the session window seems to stay over other applications.
So, you just need to close the session window, sorry. |

OK, thanks for the workarounds. Actually I think I've seen this problem with several stay on top windows, but it was simplest to replicate with the Sessions window.
