[1.17] Windows undock with a small size. |
Start up CMUD, select a session and start it (offline or online). Then undock the window. You will get a child window that is very small, about 10 lines x 50 cols or so.

How is this a bug? It's resizable.
One thing I did notice, though, is that there's readily obvious way to redock the window once it's undocked. Clicking maximise in the new window doesn't do it. I'm not even sure how I did it, I just resized it til it was the same size as the hole undocking it had left and it redocked on its own. |

Well, when I undock a window, I'd expect it to be of a useful size without needing to resize it. As a user, I would expect the undocked window to be the size of the window it used to be.

It is small so that it is easier to manipulate. After you drag it off, it's easier to increase the size of something than decrease it. For example, if your CMUD was nearly maximized, and you drag the (very large) window off and it stays the same size, it will be partially off the screen. That's a pain to fix, takes at least 2 resizes and a move. Increasing the size of a small window is easier... place one corner in position, then one resize to drag the opposite corner to the size you want.
And that's just talking about computer savvy users who know how to get a window that is partially offscreen back on. You'd be surprised how many are not capable of it, or at the least get flustered by it. |
