Congratulations |
I think I last used CMUD when it first came out... didn't really use it much after that. Booted up a copy of 1.17? and it has improved a ton! Very sleek and elegant. Good work :D

Yeah, I tried it at 1.03... didn't take a look again until 1.11, and the difference was pretty marked. It's getting really close to usable, though I'm afraid the settings random deletion/corruption is still an ongoing problem. Well... in 1.16, I haven't had time to test 1.17 yet.

1.17 I don't think did anything to corruption bugs. And the swathe of corrupted packages in 1.13 and 1.15 has caused some problems to keep going even though they're now fixed, which is always fun.
But yeah, CMUD really is shaping up be an excellent piece of kit. I have confidence in the public release since most of the bugs that are left are minor - only one or two crash bugs that are very specific, and I'm finding that's it's pretty difficult to make settings get corrupted now. I can't think of much at all that needs improving (read: nothing I can think of that stops me personally using it, but the corruption bugs make me loathe to start building proper settings) before it's at a standard I'd use every day. |

I think its amazing, the scope of the program is massive, with package sharing, the speed of it etc. Hell of a stepup from zMud, my only thought though, is that it might be too complex for the very basic user.. though, by the same token, these things are only as complicated as you like to make them.

People said the same thing about zMUD :P
It's just taking that first daunting leap into actually learning how to do it that people find hard, I think. Once I actually got off my chuff and started doing it, I found there were help files on almost everything (not true of CMUD yet, but it will be) and a forum full of friendly people when I couldn't work something out. |

Definatly Fang, the help files in zMud are really awesome, and for what you cant find in there, the forum is amazing for sticky problems that you cant get your head round. Ive always found that as a coder, im pretty ok, but I so dont have the deep understanding of some of you guys, or the knowledge of more complicated ways of doing things, that, once youve learned them, are actually much much easier. I find the forum really handy for picking up new ideas, and uncovering some of the more complex ideas that my poor pea brain cant think of itself.
