New at this how do I filter certain things to a diff. window

I'm new with zMUD and frankly a lot of the commands and what not boggle my mind so I try to not mess with them. The thing I am wondering though is how do I filter certain things to a seperate window so I don't miss it? For example if I'm walking through town and some one else online sends a chat, I want that in a seperate window so I can see it and it not get lost in the text.

To chat, the command line is Chat <text>

When some one else sends a chat it comes out like <person> CHATS '<text>'

And when you send one it comes out You CHAT '<text>'

Dunno if you guys need that or not but there it is. Thanks for the help.
