DragonRealms connect

Hello out there....Have been using Zmud since 2001 and playing Dragonrealms through a DSL account since 2004 no problems. Zugg emails me to say, hey, get on board with Cmud. So I do and I cannot connect to Dragonrealms. just a blank screen and continues to try to connect every 10 or so seconds.. Have spent numerous emails with Zugg Software, they say not their problem, they can connect. so here i am, any suggestions?

thanks...

Only thing I can think of is that CMUD doesn't have permission to connect outside your firewall.

Also, at the moment email "support" for CMUD is more like email "bug reporting" for CMUD, since it's still a beta. I imagine that once CMUD is properly released, you'll get more help with this kind of issue through email.

Thanks for the reply. I use Mozilla Firefox for a browser, maybe they don't recognize it yet? I'm not sure at this point just what questions to ask or where to look. anyway, I might just wait until next year, and for now continue to use Zmud. Again thanks......

What browser you use is totally irrelevant. Do you use any personal firewall software? Have you tried creating a completely new session without trying to import any settings from zMUD and connecting to DragonRealms with that session?

Again, i have changed nothing and have been trying to start new session. it should be noted that I can connect to other icons listed in the Sessions.

I play Modus Operandi, and have no problems connecting.

Try this:

--create a new session
Title: (whatever you'd like)
Host: eaccess.play.net|DR
(I'm guessing you would have |DR instead of |MO at the end. Note the vertical line character--probably the shift-backslash on your keyboard).
Port: 7900 (or whatever the port number for DragonRealms is...)
--click on "Save and close"

--Make sure the session icon you just created is highlighted, and then click on "Edit Session" in the left column
--click on the "Character" tab
--in the "Name" field, type in your account name like this, with a | at the end:
simuaccount|
(You can fill in the other blanks or not as you wish...)
--click on "Save changes" in the left column...

--Double-click on the session icon to connect to the game.

Verify your account status (through Billing department, as you can access the website My Account section and the forums just fine even if your payment didn't go through).

Check your firewall. You want to make sure the port is open, and that CMud is allowed to access the internet (most firewalls will put up some sort of popup asking you for confirmation).

If you are connecting via a proxy, check the Proxy settings to make sure they are set to what they are supposed to.

Check with your DSL provider, maybe they decided to shut down a particular range of IPs and yours/DR's just happened to be in that section. Also check with Simutronics, as you could be in a similar situation regarding lockouts and stuff.

My account is still active. Playing DR as we speak using Zmud. CMUD has access to the interent through Zone alarm (my firewall). Not using a proxy. No problem with my cable connection...am connected to the game. No lockouts etc. Was wondering if there was another reason for not connecting. Sorry.

Zone Alarm has CMUD set as an exception to blocked applications?

He said earlier that he can connect to other MUDs through CMUD, just not Dragonrealms.

I just did a clean install of version 1.14, and I had to go back and edit my settings several times to get the |MO on the host name and the | at the end of the Name field on the character tab to stick. It seems to be working now so that I just need to double-click on my Modus Operandi icon to connect to the game.
