deleting mudd |
I was having a major problem with mudd beta version and since I was done playing the game I was playing I figured I would save all my triggers and whatnot to a note book file and delete mudd and then reinstall the stable v6.16 version, but when I reinstall Im getting the same problems plus and error messege about a corrupt file. how do I completly uninstall mudd from my puter? (like it was never there?) I did write down my product reciept #. I just need to know where the rest of these files are that dont get deleted when I uninstal?
thanks in advance |

I'm not familiar with any program named "mudd". This forum is for the zMUD program.
On the off chance that you are talking about zMUD, it's fairly simple. From the Start menu, go to the zMUD menu and Unlicense zMUD, then Uninstall zMUD. If you like, you can then use My Computer or Explorer to look through the directory structure and remove any directories or files that obviously pertain to zMUD.
At this point, anything that's left is designed to prevent people from using the 30-day trial, then deleting, then reinstalling for another 30-day trial, and continuing to re-use the 30-day trial forever. I'm not at all sorry to say that I won't help you or anyone else cheat Zugg out of his money, so even if I knew a way to remove what's left I wouldn't tell you.
The beta versions have numerous new commands and functions, as well as changes to existing commands and functions. This makes it quite likely that some of the triggers you wrote for the beta version will need modification to work in 6.16.
This is from the FAQ and explains what to do about corrupted settings files. quote: Q: zMUD hangs as soon as I connect to a MUD character
You probably have a corrupted MUD settings file. It is actually easy for files to get corrupted, especially in earlier versions of zMUD. Saving your settings after getting an Access Violation error is the most common way for this to happen. However, not all is lost.
1.First, find the *.MUD file for your character. It is usually in the folder for the MUD you are playing.
2. Rename this MUD file to something else.
3.Run zMUD again and connect to your character Offline. This allows zMUD to create a new, blank MUD file for your character.
4. Select the Import/Settings command from the Settings menu, and when prompted for a filename, select your old MUD file that you renamed. You should be able to import your aliases, triggers, etc, from your old file.
5. When you have recovered your settings, don't forget to save them with the Settings/Save menu command.
As for the other problems, that you were having before with the beta version and are continuing to have now that you've returned to the public version, since you didn't say what they were I can't even begin to guess at a solution.

IF you have multiple copies of ZMud installed on the same computer (ie, 6.16 for usage and a beta version for playing with features) AND you didn't back up your files, you MUST scrub out your registry or else subsequent installations will potentially corrupt themselves. I did this and ended up with some near-hybrid mess that never worked right.

I think I have found the root to my problems.
I have been using a proxy server so that I can play the game that I play with more than one Helper (telnet). since I play a couple different games it was saving everthing to the same file, the adress of the telnet server must be a default setting to save the game info. |
