Launched cmud from the installer, the sessions window came up with all of my sessions, conected no problem, closed cmud, re-opened cmud, my sessions are gone, but there are the default sessions... ok

Created another session test, connect close restart test along with default sessions are there. went to check out my folder for cmud sessions files, D:\cmud\ just my old sessions files there... no test no default sessions... where is test session at? looked into my documents\my games\cmud\.. there is test and the default sessions.

Assuming that the folder for session files isn't getting saved some how?

What version of Windows are you using? When you installed CMUD, it asked you to select a location for your data files...which location did you select?

If the registry entry created by the installer telling CMUD where to find your data files cannot be read by CMUD (maybe because of a registry permissions issue), then CMUD will default to using the "my documents\my games\cmud" folder.

Windows vista home premium, from administrator account
I did select d:\cmud for my sessions folder durring the install.
I installed cmud 2.20 into c:\program files\cmudb220.
I did also reinstall 2x to verifi that I had selected correct folder and that the test package was going to the my games\cmud directory.

checked the windows registery
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zuggsoft\CMUD reads as d:\cmud

In the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zuggsoft\CMUD area you should see 2 keys...one called "DataDir" and one called "InstallDir". Also, you should check in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zuggsoft\CMUD since the DataDir key here will override any global key set in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

OOPS, yes the"DataDir" key was d:\cmud and "InstallDir" was to c:\program files\cmudb220.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zuggsoft\CMUD did not have a "DataDir" key

I'm stumped on this one. I just tried this on my Vista system here. I installed CMUD and told it to put the data files in D:\CMUD and it ended up working just fine. When I create a new session, I see the new session folder created in the D:\CMUD directory and not the My Documents directory.

Can someone else also try to reproduce this?

Decided to uninstall cmud 2.18, see if that didn't fix problem..
can't uninstall cmud 218, 220, replaced it in the uninstall programs list..
Install cmud 218, then uninstalled
re-installed 220, same problem
uninstalled 220, re installed no fix,
So then I though well how can I trick cmud into reconizing d:\cmud as my sessions folder...

Hmm, so you are saying that changing the DataDir in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER area fixed the problem, even though the DataDir in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE was already set to the correct value? Very odd, but I'll look into it.
