Lua is "tightly" integrated with CMUD because CMUD uses the direct Lua API instead of the Microsoft WSH interface. Because of this, Lua will always be faster than other WSH scripting and will always have more features. The WSH interface limits some of what can be done, and while more operations for WSH are planned, you'll still always be able to do more with Lua. Also, Lua is shipped with CMUD, so you can easily share Lua scripts in the Script Library without needing to worry about whether or not someone else has the scripting language installed.
It's really worth the trouble to learn zScript in any of these cases. Even a lot of the advanced Lua stuff still requires knowledge of various zScript commands and functions. |
