zmud compatiblity problems with mud commands?

Hey, im on a mud where when you send mail or edit a description you can use commands like .f and .c or whatever to perform functions to your note eg .f would format the lines and .c would clear a line. when i try to use these with zmud it just enters them as text and no command is performed. I dont have any aliases or macros or anything like that set with these commands. has anybody run across this and can you help me out thanks.

Try ~.f and ~.c

. is the special character that tells zMUD to interpret what follows as a speedwalk.
